А второго января, когда поставили самый длинный таск за всю историю соревнований - 389 км, - Саша не просто пролетела его, а заранее вылетела пораньше, задекларировала свою собственную цель и пролетела 407.8 км до цели, и это еще один женский рекорд полета до цели по прямой. А если посчитать не по прямой, а через ППМ, то получается аж 419 км, и это тоже рекорд

For that I needed to launch as an early bird at 11:50 to extend the beginning of the task by a few kilometers. The second extension of the distance was planned to be additional ~15 km past main goal in Manilla.
The further plan was to wait within the starting cylinder of the competition and to start together with others at 13:00. The wind was fairly moderate 25 km/h gusting up to 35 km/h and was predicted to get stronger in the second part of the flight.
Funny enough I blew the start and lost any opportunity to catch the main flock, so waiting didn't pay much in this respect and I flew pretty much the whole task alone not seeing many other pilots.
After recovering and taking the clock start I set myself the plan to fly at a speed of 60-65km/h which I could maintain pretty good until 17:45 when everything slowed down and I still had about 100 km to go. Honestly I wouldn't think I can fly another hundred at this time of the day. But this is Australia! I patiently made my way back to the cloudbase of 3500 m and did possibly the best glide I've done so far with the glide ratio of 24 over a distance of 37 km. Overall the air was fantastic and very supportive this evening, so after finding the last deciding lift I flew over the main competition goal to find my way further into the bunnies behind Manilla.
My point was set on a hill just behind the last landable field and lucky I was to get into the cylinder of 400 m to set the NEW WORLD RECORD FEMALE attempt for a declared distance! Huh, how good is Forbes!? (And Manilla too) Come and fly with us next year!
